Selfridge Military Air Museum Memorial Wall
SELFRIDGE MILITARY AIR MUSEUM
The Selfridge Military Air Museum is an outreach effort of the Michigan Air Guard Historical Association (MAGHA). Volunteers at the Air Museum have begun construction of a full-size replica of a World War I SPAD, an aircraft flown by the First Pursuit Group in World War I and at Selfridge Field when the First Pursuit Group moved to the Field in 1919.
As the replica will be historically accurate and have fabric-covered wings, it is critical for the preservation of the SPAD that we display it indoors. Existing floor space is inadequate inside the Museum building so our plans include the construction of a SPAD hangar that is accessible to our guests.
We estimate that it will cost approximately $7,000.00 in material for our volunteers to build the display and an additional $30,000.00 to construct the SPAD Hangar. As both MAGHA and the Air Museum are IRS-recognized 501c(3) non-profit organizations with an all-volunteer staff and no federal or state funds for the operation or our Museum and the maintenance of our buildings and displays, public and corporate support for this project will be critical to its success.
All donations to this project are tax-deductible per Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Service Code and a receipt for all donations will be provided. Further, donors who contribute a minimum of $100.00 will be formally acknowledged inside the SPAD Hangar as being critical to the success of the project.
