Adopted By Cub Scout Pack 290

This Grumman built carrier-based multi-role strike fighter was designed to replace the F-4 “Phantom” as the Navy’s main interceptor. The F-14 had visual and all weather attack capability to deliver Phoenix and Sparrow missiles as well as the M-61 gun and Sidewinder missiles for close in air-to-air combat. Our F-14A was used as a maintenance trainer for Selfridge-based US Navy Reservists from 1999 to 2005 and donated to our Museum by the National Museum of Naval Aviation in 2006.
